The Carolina Panthers still have a chance to win the NFC South despite holding a 5-8-1 record since they aren’t far behind the division-leading New Orleans Saints, who are 6-8.
Quarterback Cam Newton was forced to sit out against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Derek Anderson filled in solidly as he helped engineer the Panthers to a 19-17 win.
Newton is expected to return Sunday though, despite being in a car accident just over a week ago. He was able to avoid serious injuries and just had two transverse process fractures in his back.
Meanwhile, the Browns are looking to recover from a humiliating 30-0 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, which featured the starting debut of quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Manziel was given the starting job after Brian Hoyer was benched following a string of poor performances.
Due to playing from behind, running backs Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West were also shut down.
The Browns will face a tough defense in the Panthers, who have shown flashes of their 2013 form lately. Newton should have his way with an underwhelming Browns defense if he can stay healthy.
Prediction: Panthers 27, Browns 14
