The San Francisco 49ers are coming off their third loss in a row, and their record has fallen to 7-7. They have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
They will look to finish the season with a winning record by defeating the San Diego Chargers on Saturday. The Chargers are on the outside looking in at a playoff spot with an 8-6 record.
The 49ers offense has struggled greatly for the past five games as they have failed to score more than 17 points in a game during that span.
Their elimination from the playoffs was as bitter as possible since it came against the Seattle Seahawks, who completed the season sweep.
They couldn’t catch a break with injuries either as running backs Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde both left with injuries. Both of them are questionable to play Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Chargers are coming off a 22-10 loss to the Denver Broncos. Quarterback Philip Rivers continued to fall back down to Earth with two interceptions in the loss after once being considered an MVP frontrunner.
Rivers will have another challenging defense ahead of him in the 49ers, but the 49ers offense will be no challenge to stop as quarterback Colin Kaepernick looks like a shell of his 2012 form.
Prediction: Chargers 24, 49ers 17
