The Packers were completely shut down against the NFL Champion Seattle Seahawks in the season opener, but that is doubtful to be the case when the Packers transition from playing the best secondary in the league to one of the weakest in the New York Jets.
Despite a fairly dominating defensive performance by the Jets, New York was playing against a rookie QB making his first NFL start in Derek Carr – and they still allowed him to play a nearly flawless offensive performance with 2 TDs and no turnovers forced. The Jets will not have as easy a time against Aaron Rodgers, who is one of the best QBs in football and has carved up some of the best secondaries in the league on a regular basis.
The Packers get back RB Eddie Lacy and might have starting RT Bryan Bulaga back from injuries suffered against the Seahawks. The Jets plan to re-activate CB Dee Milliner who missed the last month of games and practice due to leg injuries. It will be a very different game if neither of those three players are at 100% for this game.
Prediction: Packers – There is no way that the Packers start the season 0-2, losing their home opener, against a Jets team with a terrible secondary and a struggling passing attack to boot. It may take the Packers time to heat up, but by the 4th quarter Green Bay will likely be up two scores.
