The New Orleans Saints won their first game of the season with a 20-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in their first home game of the season.
They set the tone with a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, but Vikings kicker Blair Walsh made three field goals to make the game close.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees sealed the game with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Marques Colston, and he finished with 293 yards on 27-of-35 passing.
Running back Khiry Robinson filled in for Mark Ingram, who is out for a month with a broken hand. Robinson rushed for 69 yards on 18 carries, and Pierre Thomas added 30 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.
Wide receiver Brandin Cooks led the Saints in receiving with eight catches for 74 yards.
For the Vikings, quarterback Matt Cassel was taken out of the game with a broken foot. Rookie Teddy Bridgewater filled in and threw for 150 yards on 12-of-20 passing.
Wide receiver Greg Jennings led the Vikings with 70 receiving yards on five receptions, and Matt Asiata continued to start at running back and rushed for 35 yards while adding 36 receiving yards.
