Giants Cardinals preview
The New York Giants have gotten off to a rough start with an 0-2 record, and they will look to achieve their first win against the Houston Texans, who are 2-0.
The Giants received a better effort from quarterback Eli Manning, who threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions that proved costly.
Tight end Larry Donnell continued to be Manning’s security blanket as he finished with seven receptions and 81 yards. Running back Rashad Jennings rushed for 64 yards on 18 carries, but he lost a fumble to add to the Giants’ turnover problems.
The Texans continued to dominate on defense as they held the Oakland Raiders to 14 points, and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was solid with 139 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-19 passing. Running back Arian Foster rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.
A key matchup to look out for in this game will be Foster against the Giants defensive line, which received a solid performance from defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who finished with 1.5 sacks. The unit as a whole totaled four sacks.
If the Texans can force turnovers, they should be able to improve to 3-0. However, Fitzpatrick will have a tough matchup against the Giants secondary, which did well against Drew Stanton. The Giants will also have home-field advantage while they’re hungry for a win.
Prediction: Giants 21, Texans 14
