The St. Louis Rams are coming off a comeback victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with third-string quarterback Austin Davis as their starter. They will look to improve to 2-1 against the Dallas Cowboys, who are also 1-1.
Kicker Greg Zuerlein kicked four field goals, including the game winner. Davis completed 22-of-29 of his passes for 235 yards while running back Zac Stacy rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
After facing a weak Buccaneers defense, the Rams will get to face the Cowboys defense, which is not known for being a strong unit. However, they held the Tennessee Titans to 10 points.
Stacy will provide much more of a test for the Cowboys defense than the Titans offense though.
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has become somewhat of a game manager since running back DeMarco Murray leads the NFL in rushing yards with 285, and he gashed the Titans defense with 167 yards last week.
However, Murray will need to work on ball security after losing his second fumble of the season. Wide receiver Dez Bryant looked much better in Week 2 than Week 1 with 10 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.
This game will be close, and it will come down to whether Davis can manage the Rams offense without turnovers. If they can force the Cowboys to turn the ball over, the game may lean in their favor.
However, the Cowboys offense will be a challenge to stop with Romo and Murray providing a two-dimensional unit.
Prediction: Cowboys 21, Rams 17
