The New England Patriots (3-2) defeated the Cincinnati Bengals (3-1) by a score of 43-17 on Sunday Night Football.
After looking virtually anemic on offense against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Patriots went home to host the previously undefeated Cincinnati Bengals. But two first quarter TDs to give the Patriots a 14-0 lead made it clear that the Patriots would not be the same moribund team that played in Kansas City the week before.
Tom Brady was virtually flawless on the day – as was the rest of the team by committing no turnovers – going 23 of 35 for 292 yards and two TDs. RB Stevan Ridley had one of the best outings of his career with 27 carries for 117 yards and a TD. TE Rob Gronkowski was his usual dominant self as well with 6 receptions for an even 100 receiving yards and a TD.
The Cincinnati Bengals just couldn’t get it going in the first half, only scoring 3 points in the first 26 minutes and committing 3 turnovers on the day – one of which was a fumbled kickoff return which the Patriots returned for a TD at the 6:00 mark in the 3rd quarter.
