The San Francisco 49ers defeated the St. Louis Rams 31-17 on Monday Night Football.
After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick led the 49ers to 4 scoring drives through the 2nd and 3rd quarters to give the 49ers a 24-14 lead. With 2:24 remaining in the 4th quarter the Rams kicked a FG making the score 24-17 and managed to get the ball back with 1:05 left in the game, but QB Austin Davis threw a pick-6 to 49ers defender Dontae Johnson to make the score 31-17, putting away the game for good.
After weeks of below-average performance, Colin Kaepernick lit up the stat sheet with 343 passing yards and 3 TDs to – him a 120.5 passer rating. He also added 37 yards on the ground on just 3 carries.
The Rams once-vaunted pass rush, led by DE Robert Quinn, was blanked in the game, recording no sacks on the day.
With the win the 49ers improve to 4-2 and are half a game behind the Arizona Cardinals but one game ahead of the Seattle Seahawks.
The St. Louis Rams dropped to 1-4, the 3rd worst winning percentage in the NFC and 6th worst in the NFL.
