The New Orleans Saints are returning home, and they will face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. They are sitting at 2-4 and looking for a win that will keep them in the NFC South title race.
The Saints appeared to have a win wrapped up last week on the road against the Detroit Lions, but the Lions scored two touchdowns to take a 24-23 lead.
Quarterback Drew Brees had thrown an interception to set up the game-winning touchdown, and he was unable to put the Saints in scoring position on their final drive.
Luckily for the Saints, they are 2-0 at home and will get to play the Packers there. However, they will be facing a red-hot team that has won four games in a row and holds a 5-2 record.
The Packers easily defeated the Carolina Panthers, 38-17, last week when quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 19-of-22 of his passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns in just three quarters of play.
Rodgers has thrown 13 touchdowns with zero interceptions during the Packers’ winning streak, and he will have a weak Saints defense to take advantage of.
However, the Packers defense will be tested for the first time since allowing 36 points to the Seahawks and will likely miss cornerback Sam Shields. They have performed well since then though and rank fifth in the NFL in pass defense.
Nonetheless, the Saints are incredibly tough to beat in New Orleans, and running back Mark Ingram will be able to capitalize on a weak Packers run defense.
Prediction: Saints 27, Packers 24
