The Carolina Panthers are looking to maintain control of first place in the NFC South, which they have held onto despite losing two games in a row. They lost, 13-9, to the Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday.
Their defense performed well, but Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw the game-winning touchdown pass with less than a minute remaining.
Quarterback Cam Newton threw a couple of passes that were caught in spectacular fashion by wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, but the offense sputtered aside from those plays.
Their defense will face a major test against the New Orleans Saints, who will seize first place in the NFC South if they win. Quarterback Drew Brees led his team to a 44-23 victory over the Green Bay Packers and threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns on 27-of-32 passing.
Running back Mark Ingram joined in on the offensive clinic by rushing for 172 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, and he should be able to continue doing so with Pierre Thomas out and Khiry Robinson questionable.
The Saints offense should have no problem continuing its momentum against a Panthers defense that has regressed from last season.
Prediction: Saints 28, Panthers 24
