It finally ends their pursuit of the Valencia ace, with Man United also reportedly interested in signing him to bolster their own defence.
However, Louis Van Gaal appears to have missed out and will now have to switch his focus elsewhere if he is genuinely searching for another defender.
Meanwhile, Balague added that Eliaquim Mangala is not part of the agreement that is taking Otamendi to the Etihad, as the French ace didn’t want to be included in the deal.
As a result, a new transfer fee for the Argentinian international had to be agreed and it was increased to €45m.
Manuel Pellegrini will hope that it is the boost that the club needs after making such an impressive start to the season, with his new 27-year-old recruit expected to add more defensive solidity to the team.
Otamendi all done with City. €45m and a 5 year contract. No loan deal with a City player included.
