Michu
A name a little closer to home, and certainly one that needs no introduction following the 2012-13 season he enjoyed. Perhaps not as glamorous as some of the other characters being linked with Manchester United, Michu has proven at every opportunity that he would be a quality fit for Moyes’ side.
First and foremost, 18 goals in 35 league games saw Michu finish as one of the top 20 goalscorers in Europe. Whilst signed initially as a striker, it may come as a surprise to some that he actually scored the majority of goals from a midfield position, often playing behind sold striker Danny Graham or the frankly ineffective Itay Shechter.
He may not offer an incredible amount of help for Michael Carrick in the anchored role behind him, but he is no worse defensively than Thiago Alcântara or Cesc Fàbregas, and Moyes’ enthusiasm in pursuing those two certainly indicates that he wouldn’t mind Michu’s defensive mindedness one bit.
A proven Premier League player used to playing attractive attacking football in a team which won a trophy, and whom would probably cost less than £22m – what’s not to love about Michu?
