Colombian’s agent dismisses speculation of interest from England.
The agent of Udinese star Luis Muriel has revealed that he has had no contact with Premier League clubs regarding the Colombian’s future.
The 22-year-old has scored 13 goals in 25 appearances for Francesco Guidolin’s side, but in turn has attracted the interest of some of the top European clubs.
Speculation over the summer linked him with a move to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Liverpool supposedly interested in signing him.
However, having now signed a new contract with the Friulani, his agent has now confirmed that he had no contact with any Premier League clubs.
“Muriel is a player of talent and potential, so I think it is normal that big clubs should follow him carefully,” agent Helmut Wennin told calcionews24 as reported by Football Italia.
“However, I have had no contact with any English clubs regarding the future of Luis. I haven’t had official contact with Italian sides either, but I don’t know if the Pozzo family has discussed the situation.”
Wnnin went on to admit that while Muriel accepts that he is a vital part of the Zebrette’s plans and can benefit from regular football, that doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility he will move on sooner rather than later.
While both parties agreed this summer that Muriel was better placed to remain in Udine and continue to grow, it is likely that the Colombian will test himself at one of the bigger clubs in Europe and will now warrant a bigger price-tag given his contractual status.
Udinese have continuously exceeded expectations over recent years, and despite adopting a transfer policy which sees their squad regularly overhauled, it remains to be seen how long they can keep hold of Muriel for.
