Marquinhos is rated as one of the finest young defenders in world football, but his international colleagues Thiago Silva and David Luiz are blocking his path into the Parc des Princes first team squad.
United are thought to be in the market for a centre back and Marquinhos could fit the bill – but their mooted £30m bid is just £3m more than the fee that Laurent Blanc’s side initially paid to AS Roma for the player.
