Canaries have made contact with Ajax over Toby Alderweireld.
Norwich have contact with Ajax to enquire about defender Toby Alderweireld, according to the Belgian’s agent.
Alderweireld has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Tottenham this summer after an impressive season for the Eredivisie champions.
Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be tracking the versatile defender, who can play at right-back or centre-half, but Norwich appear to have made bold steps in an attempt to sign the Belgium international.
“I understand they [Norwich] made contact with Marc Overmars [Ajax’s director of football],” Soren Lerby, Alderweireld’s agent told De Telegraaf, a Dutch newspaper.
“Toby has left the pre-season camp of Ajax in Austria due to personal reasons and I haven’t spoken with him about Norwich yet.
“I don’t know if Toby is interested in a move or not.”
Ajax are relaxed about the possibility of Alderwireld leaving, with head-coach Frank de Boer happy with the alternative options at his disposal.
He said: “If Toby would leave, then we have with Joel Veltman and Van der Hoorn two good players who could take over that position.”
