The Sharks have announced the re-signing of its two young-guns.
After a disappointing season, the Cronulla Sharks have moved to to shore up its playing stocks by announcing the re-signing of winger Jacob Gagan and front-rower David Fifita until the end of 2016.
The retention of the two players comes hot off the heels of Fa’amanu Brown and Sosaia Feki agreeing to deals that will keep them at the Sharks for another three seasons.
Sharks interim coach James Shepherd said he was pleased to see the two young-guns retained.
“They are both players of promise and its great to see the club has given them an opportunity to fulfill their potential,” Shepherd said.
“David has battled some injuries this year but made his NRL debut and handled it well, while Jacob has also had his chance in the top grade and has grabbed it with both hands.
“They both deserve the contract upgrades and the next step is for them to try to cement permanent positions in the NRL team.”
With his twin brother Andrew re-signing with the Sharks earlier in the year, Fifita took to Instagram to announce his new contract.
“Proud to announce I have just signed for another 2 years!! Couldn’t give up on the dream #playingALONGsideMYtwin @andrewfifita #upupcronulla,” wrote Fifita.
Cronulla currently sit bottom of the NRL ladder, winning just four of its 16 games.
