South Sydney Rabbitohs hooker Issac Luke will miss Sunday’s grand final clash with Canterbury after the NRL judiciary upheld his dangerous throw charge.
Luke was found guilty of a grade one offence, having been placed on report following his tackle on Sonny Bill Williams in the Rabbitohs’ 32-22 preliminary final win over over the Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium last Friday.
Panel members Mal Cochrane, Chris McKenna and Michael Vella reportedly took 11 minutes to decide the verdict.
Luke declined to comment upon leaving Rugby League Central, but Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire gave a short statement.
“Obviously not the result we were after,” Maguire said.
“But I know I have a squad that are looking forward to preparing well all week and getting into Sunday’s game.”
