Both Sutton and Burgess avoided suspension despite being arrested by police.
Sutton and Burgess spent a night in lock up after they were ejected from a bar during the Rabbitohs’ pre-season camp in November last year.
The NRL say that the Rabbitohs “did not follow the matter until its conclusion”, but deemed the fine to be a sufficient enough penalty.
“I should stress that the Integrity Unit relies on the clubs to provide reliable and accurate information about any incidents involving their players,” NRL chief operating officer Young is quoted as saying by NRL.com.
“If clubs withhold information or fail to disclose the full details they face sanctions – as we have seen in this case.”
Sutton was stripped of the co-captaincy following the incident while Burgess was released to the Manly Sea Eagles.
