History making leader turns his back on several NRL club offers.
Laurie Daley has signaled his intent to try and spur the New South Wales Blues to a State of Origin dynasty of their own after signing a two-year extension.
Daley was this season lauded for his role in helping the Blues break Queensland’s stranglehold on the series.
As such, several NRL clubs inquired about his services as they looked to secure their futures with one of the best coaches in rugby league.
“I’m excited by the challenge that lies ahead,” Daley said. “It is a big challenge and we have to get continually better.
“People have shown faith and confidence in me and I am thankful for that.
“I want this to be a team that everyone in NSW can be proud of.”
NSW this season snapped Queensland’s eight-year winning streak with a 2-1 series win.
Daley paid tribute to NSWRL chief executive Dave Trodden and chairman George Peponis.
