Utility Kurt Gidley
Kurt Gidley’s inclusion is set to cause a storm amongst Blues’ fans, as his past record in State of Origin games has been less then flattering.
But Daley has chosen the Newcastle veteran for his ability to cover fullback, centre, half-back and five-eighth, allowing him to go with a bigger bench filled with forwards.
Backrower Anthony Watmough
Will have a similar role to Greg Bird and will be the glue that holds the Blues attacking plan together.
At times this year Watmough has not been at his best with cheap turnovers coming at times for the Manly Sea Eagles.
But his ability to break the line and off-load could come in handy with noted speedsters sure to be running off his hip all game.
Prop Trent Merrin
The St George Illawarra workhorse will come off the bench after 15 minutes and provide a breather and a continued attacking presence for the side.
Prop Andrew Fifita
The last new face in the side, Cronulla’s Andrew Fifita has been mentioned as a possible Origin player for the past two seasons.
Since joining the Sharks he has improved his fitness greatly and can now contribute for up to 70 minutes across a game.
But that will not be his role in the Blues with the hulking prop to be use as a super-sub and try and blast holes in the Maroons line for between 25-40 minutes.
