The Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings both have rookie quarterbacks pushing for playing time. They both also have first-round rookies looking to improve their defenses.
The Minnesota Vikings will make their preseason debut against the Oakland Raiders, and both teams have rookie quarterbacks that are looking to earn starting jobs.
Teddy Bridgewater will likely see second-team reps with the Vikings as Matt Cassel makes the start, and this will be his first chance to prove he should be the Week 1 starter.
Anthony Barr will also be a key player to watch on defense since he is expected to start at outside linebacker right away.
Other offensive players to watch on the Vikings are wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson and running back Jerick McKinnon, who will see second-team reps in his rookie preseason debut. Patterson is being seen as a breakout player with his speed and receiving ability.
Derek Carr will see second-team reps as Matt Schaub starts for the Raiders at quarterback. There are many other players to watch on the Raiders though since they signed numerous free agents.
This includes running back Maurice Jones-Drew and defensive end Justin Tuck. Out of the rookies, outside linebacker Khalil Mack will have the most eyes on him since he is expected to be a Week 1 starter and instant contributor to the Raiders defense.
