Eddie Howe’s side had taken the lead through Glenn Murray in the 28th minute, but Watford were on level terms with Ighalo finding the net thanks in large part to Boruc.
Heurelho Gomes was the hero for the Hornets as he denied Murray a second of the game late in the second half from the penalty spot, and that in turn ensured that they secured a share of the spoils.
The draw lifts Watford into the top half of the table for the time being having collected 10 points from their eight games so far this season, while Bournemouth edged away from the relegation zone and now boast a four-point cushion.
With Aston Villa and Newcastle United losing and Sunderland being held by West Ham United at the Stadium of Light, both Premier League newcomers will be relatively pleased to pick up what is a crucial result in their bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
However, Bournemouth will undoubtedly be left to wonder what could have been had Boruc and Murray been able to make a key difference in the game for the right reasons.
