Widely regarded as one of the most promising defenders in Europe, Marcos Aoas Correa joined the Giallorossi from Corinthians last summer and enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in Europe.
He made 26 appearances in Serie A last season, quickly establishing himself in the starting line-up with a string of dominant performances.
As a result, he attracted admirers from across Europe including the likes of Barcelona, but he has ultimately decided on joining the Ligue 1 champions, who continue to add to their group of former Serie A stars.
Marquinhos will now look to work his way into coach Laurent Blanc’s first-team plans, and establish himself alongside compatriot Thiago Silva who has dismissed rumours of an exit this summer.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was delighted after the move was officially confirmed, and lauded the club’s approach to building for the future as well as the present.
The Brazilian has been tipped to continue to develop into one of the world’s best defenders, and is excited at the new adventure he is set to embark on.
“I am delighted to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a club where so many Brazilians have played and helped write the club’s history,” he said on the club’s website.
“I will do everything I can to continue that tradition and write my own name into the club’s illustrious history books. Paris Saint-Germain will help me continue my progression alongside exceptional players, with the desire to win trophies and also win the hearts of the supporters”, he concluded.
Marquinhos is the second major signing of the week that the French club have made from Serie A, following Edinson Cavani to the Parc des Princes.
