Brazilian veteran signs two-year deal with capital club.
Roma have officially announced the arrival of former Manchester City and Inter star Maicon, with the Brazilian international signing a two-year deal.
The wing-back celebrated his 32nd birthday on Friday, and was greeted with an official announcement on the club’s website that he had agreed on a deal with the club.
Maicon has already begun training with his new team-mates as they step up their preparations for the new season, but supporters have been made to wait for confirmation of the move after the veteran terminated his deal with City.
“Roma have underwritten a contract with player Maicon Douglas Sisenando, two last two years, with expiry set for June 30 2015.
“The player comes from Manchester City FC, with whom he terminated his contract by mutual consent at the moment he signed for Roma.”

Maicon made just 11 appearances for the Premier League side under Roberto Mancini, but his future was in doubt following the Italian’s sacking at the end of last season.
It is believed that new coach Manuel Pellegrini deemed him surplus to requirements after suffering injury woes with his knee, but it is understood that the Brazilian is training well and hopes to become an integral part of the Giallorossi’s squad next season.
The Brazilian starred during his stint at Inter where he helped the club to an unprecedented treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010, but it remains to be seen whether he can recapture that kind of form upon his return to Italy.
The statistics would suggest that he can still provide an option for new coach Rudi Garcia, but it will be vital if he can enjoy a full pre-season schedule without any setbacks.
