In a bit of news almost as shocking as Sepp Blatter’s resignation announcement two weeks ago, reports now indicate that the outgoing FIFA President is considering staying on as the organization’s top executive.
According to the Metro, a source close to Blatter stated that the Swiss executive has been urged to stay on by football associations in Africa and Asia. Additionally, the source revealed that departure of FIFA Director of Communications Walter de Gregorio has increased Blatter’s desire to keep his job.
Blatter, who has gained notoriety as one of the more reviled figures in sports around the world, won re-election as President of the global football body two weeks ago, but shocked the world by resigning just a few days later.
Regardless of his decision, Blatter will still have all of his powers as President until sometime between December and February.
