Former Australia star reckons the free-scoring FC Luzern star should be given a chance.
Oliver Bozanic is being backed to win a call-up to the Socceroos squad for the friendly with Brazil by former international Scott Chipperfield.
FC Luzern midfielder Bozanic has scored six goals in seven matches in all competitions for his new employers following a move from A-League side Central Coast Mariners and has thrown his hat into the selection ring for his country.
His cause is being championed by Chipperfield, who made 68 appearances for Australia, as he feels the 24-year-old performances for the Swiss Pro League side deserve to be recognised when Holger Osieck names his squad for the match in Brasilia on September 7
“I think Holger’s shown in the past he’s been willing to bring players in to camp to have a look at them,” Chipperfield told Goal Australia on Tuesday.
“So I think he’s worth bringing into the squad anyway, to at least train with the players and then you can have a look at him.”
Bozanic is certainly a player for Osieck to consider for the future after his impressive start to life in Switzerland, where local newspaper Der Blick have taken to calling him ‘Crocodile Oli’.
