Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has made a bold claim stating that he is a better player for the club than record signing Alexis Sanchez, and has issued a goal threat to the Chilean international in the process, according to the Daily Express.
Sanchez began the season in outrageous form, bagging himself ten goals in the first half of the campaign. However, his goal tally has taken a significant his as of late – finding the net just once in his past seven games.
And during that time, the 26-year-old has been surpassed by France international Olivier Giroud, who has got himself on the scoresheet a further eight times during that period.
And now, as both players head into the final stretch of games with 13 goals each, Grioud has admitted that he is desperate to stay ahead of his teammate as they look to book themselves a space in next season’s Champions League.
“I’m not going to say something silly because it’ll be reported, but why not finish ahead of Alexis?” Giroud told RMC.
“We push each other, we’re on 13 goals, and I would like to score some more to help the team achieve its objectives.”
