And he courted further ire recently with some heavy handed criticism of current Gunners front man Olivier Giroud.
However, the France international has taken at swipe back at his compatriot in an interview with French media giant L’Equipe.
Henry had claimed that the club needed a better striker than Giroud if they were to seriously challenge for honours next season, and that he should be replaced during the summer transfer window.
However, the 28-year-old, who has struggled to find the net over the past month, has hit back at Henry by claiming that he was only trying to say something controversial after being labelled as dull.
“I heard he was saying too many dull things,” said Giroud.
“That was a bomb and it had its desired effect.”
Giroud has bagged 18 goals so far this season, which is impressive given that he has missed three months of the campaign through injury.
