Queens Park Rangers’ loaned-out midfielder doubts he will return to Loftus Road.
Currently on loan at French Ligue 1 side Marseille, Joey Barton has made it clear it will be difficult for him to return to his parent club QPR if they fail to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, according to BBC Sport.
The notorious badboy has underlined his support for new manager Harry Redknapp and wishes him luck in the club’s struggle against the drop, but has reiterated that he is happy in France and would not welcome playing in the Championship.
Barton even spoke of extending his time in the south of France, “I haven’t closed my mind to it [returning to QPR] although I would really like to stay here…I’m in a good space mentally. I’ve held preliminary talks with Marseille about extending my stay here.”
