Chelsea Prepare January Move for Real Madrid Midfield General
Renowned French news source L’Equipe has revealed it’s World XI for 2014 featuring a number of stars from Germany and Spain but just one from the Premier League.
The list is constructed by the newspaper polling football journalists based in France and asking them to construct and XI they think is of the best players in the world.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid stars of course feature heavily with some appearances from the usual suspects from Barcelona and a Borussia Dortmund defender. But which Premier League player made it into the best 11?
GK) Manuel Neuer – Bayern Munich
More sweeper than keeper nowadays thanks to the influence of Pep Guardiola’s unique football vision but Neuer is probably the world’s best keeper on his day and was key to Germany’s World Cup success.
RB) Philipp Lahm – Bayern Munich
Lahm developed his stock as right back but of course, as with Neuer, Guardiola’s football vision put paid to that and Lahm has developed into a uniquely talented central midfielder.
