RW) Neymar – Barcelona
Brazil imploded without Neymar under the pressure of a nation at the World Cup – his first season at Barcelona didn’t end with the success he would have liked but he’s developed devastatingly deadly partnerships with Barcelona’s leading line.
CF) Lionel Messi – Barcelona
Another star who didn’t reach the success he would have liked this season. Messi just seemed to fall short in 2014 on the winning medals front becoming the runner up in multiple competitions – but he did end off his year in style; breaking the scoring records for both the Champions League and La Liga.
LW) Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid
2014 was definitely the year of Ronaldo. Not just club honours which included the Copa Del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup not to mention records including his 72nd Champions League goal and 34 goals for Real and Portugal since the beginning of this season.
And to cap off a truly remarkable year, he won the Balon d’Or in December.
