Chelsea paid a lot of money for 21-year-old left-back Baba Rahman this summer – £21.7m according to the Daily Mail.
He arrived with a reputation for getting forward and creating goals. On Tuesday night, he justified that reputation by providing his first ever Chelsea assist.
Thirteen-time senior Ghana international Rahman delivered a perfect cross for Oscar, who headed home Chelsea’s third goal in a 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in Champions League Group G.
According to Whoscored.com, Rahman touched the ball 72 times during the match in Israel.
He made two ‘key passes’ and just one unsuccessful touch. Overall, his pass success-rate was 96.2%.
Gary Cahill broke the deadlock for Chelsea on 20 minutes, before Maccabi were reduced to ten men just before half time when defender Tal Ben Haim was sent off for kicking Diego Costa.
Willian and Kurt Zouma got on the scoresheet in the second half, either side of Oscar’s headed strike.
