Coach hopeful for Samba challenge
Australia Coach Holger Osieck is looking forward to seeing how his side measure up to arguably the greatest footballing nation on the planet.
The German has included Central Coast Mariners striker Mitchell Duke, after the 22-year-old impressed in the EAFF Championships.
Stars Mark Schwarzer and Tim Cahill have been named in the side, Lucas Neill has also made the squad after signing for Omiya Ardija.
Speaking to FIFA.com Osieck reiterated how valuable an experience the trip to Brasilia would be.
“To be able to travel to the country that is hosting the World Cup a year ahead is also of great value.
“The players will be able to familiarise themselves with various factors that they will experience next year so it won’t be a surprise next June.
“It will also be interesting to see how we are received having to play the host nation in Brazil with a large home crowd.
The friendly will take place on 7th September, The Socceroos will then play France at the Parc De Princes on October 11th.
