Brendan Rodgers told a packed press conference before Liverpool’s match with Burnley that Mario Balotelli doesn’t suit his team’s style, reports the Telegraph.
“We have seen that level of intensity and pressing isn’t part of his game,” Rodgers began…
“Working with him for the period of time he’s been here we have seen that he’s probably someone who’s better in and around the box. But you try to get the best out of the players you have and the qualities they have. So that’s something we will focus on.”
“The most important thing is he is now available and adds another player to his squad,” the Northern Irishman finished.
The comments are unlikely to do much to mend the fractious relationship between the pair, with Balotelli still having failed to find the back of the net in the Premier League since his £16m summer move from AC Milan.
The Italian is available for Liverpool’s Boxing Day trip to Burnley, but these comments indicate he’ll likely start from the bench.
