After a long summer of offseason distractions, the New England Patriots received the ultimate gift.
Quarterback Tom Brady will be returning to the field for Week 1 after winning his DeflateGate appeal, according to ESPN.
Judge Richard M. Berman ruled that commissioner Roger Goodell gave too harsh of a punishment while ripping him for having “his own brand of industrial justice.”
The NFL commissioner responded to Berman’s ruling with a statement.
“We are grateful to Judge Berman for hearing this matter, but respectfully disagree with today’s decision,” Goodell said.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP was suspended for four games by the NFL for being considered to have likely played a role in deflating game balls during the AFC Championship.
Brady insists that he did not play a role in this controversy, which has hung over the Patriots’ heads since before the Super Bowl.

The defending Super Bowl champions will begin their season in the 2015 opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which will take place on Thursday, Sept. 10.
