Pakistan announce squads for next month’s Twenty20 and ODIs against South Africa.
As was predicted Pakistan have recalled Shahid Afridi back to their ODI and Twenty20 squads. The former captain of Pakistan has been put back into the side after some poor batting performances from the Pakistanis in the Test series.
Pakistan’s only real shining light with the bat against South Africa, Younus Khan, will not play in either of the short forms of the game. There were also suggestions Umar Gul would be omitted from the squads, but he holds his place.
However, Rahat Ali and Tanvir Ahmed were not so fortunate, as the pair have not made the cut.
There were serious doubts whether Junaid Khan would be fit to play in the ODI and Twenty20 internationals, but his inclusion in both squads shows Pakistan are satisfied he will recover from his injury.
Pakistan will be looking to shake up their squad and get them ready for the limited over matches. The Test series is already beyond them at 2-0 down, but they can salvage some respect with a strong performance in the one-day and Twenty20 games.
