It’s the first One Day International of the three match series between rivals Pakistan and Sri Lanka after a drawn Twenty20 series between the two sides.
The visitors beat the Pakistanis in the last encounter between the teams in the shortest form of the game, but now they will have to test their skill over three matches in the 50-over format.
With the ODI World Cup a little over a year away it’s a chance to try out new things and begin to finalise the final XI for that tournament.
The home side played well against South Africa in their recent series, whilst the Sri Lankans looked a little more shaky when taking on New Zealand.
However, in Kumar Sangakkara they have arguably the greatest wicket-keeper batsman to ever grace the one-day game, along with short over specialists such as Lasith Malinga and captain Angelo Mathews.
As for Pakistan, they are hoping that all-rounder Bilawal Bhatti continues to develop in order to solve the problematic spot the side have struggled to fill for some time.
Mohammad Hafeez is expected to be given one final chance to impress for the hosts, whilst Seekkuge Prasanna needs to show some more promise with the ball for the opposition.
