Paul Pogba could easily restore Chelsea to Premier League contention – if Jose Mourinho is willing to take a risk.
With the transfer window just 24 hours and change from being shut, Chelsea are prepared to break the bank and the transfer record to land Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
According to the Metro, Chelsea are willing to pay as much as £87.5 million to the Serie A giants to secure the 22-year-old megastar.
Such a number would not only break the Premier League transfer record currently held by Man United for Angel Di Maria (£59.7 million in 2014), it would also break the £85.3 million world-record transfer held by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.
Chelsea are desperate for a shot in the arm – particularly on defense – after a terrible August in which they surrendered 9 goals, suffered two losses and came away with just 4 out of 12 points on the table.
Luckily for Jose Mourinho and company, Pogba is considered one of the world’s best midfielders, capable of playing like a defender as well as being a serious scoring threat from the middle.
