Pedro turned his back on a move to Manchester United after being warned over Louis van Gaal’s hardline management style, according to reports.
The Barcelona winger looked likely to join the Red Devils this summer, however, Chelsea have made a late swoop and it is understood the Spaniard will be revealed as a Blues player in the next 24 hours.
According to The Mirror, Van Gaal’s treatment of fellow Spanish players Victor Valdes and David de Gea may have played a role in his decision snub the Red Devils for the Premier League champions.
Valdes has been frozen out of the first-team setup at Old Trafford after the Dutchman accused the former Barcelona shot-stopper of refusing to play for the Under-21 side.
De Gea was left out of United’s opening two Premier League fixtures, with Van Gaal reportedly believing that speculation over a move to Real Madrid meant the 24-year-old was not in the right mental state to play.
The Mirror’s report also suggests that United haggled over Barcelona’s £21.7m asking price for the winger and left the door open for Chelsea to make a last-minute swoop.
