Manchester United are more confident than ever in landing Barcelona winger Pedro, as it seems it’s only a matter of time before he completes a deal to play at Old Trafford.
Pedro is believed to be keen on a move away from the Camp Nou, but Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal refused to give a direct answer about how soon the deal will be done.
“You have to ask Pedro, not me. I don’t mention anything before he has signed. When he has signed I come to you and say: ‘Hey, Pedro is here,” van Gaal said, according to the Daily Express.
Man United are prepared to pay Pedro’s release clause, which will be activated at £21.4m.
The Red Devils have sold midfielder Angel di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain after a disappointing season at Old Trafford, and they have set their eyes on Pedro since.
Man United have looked to capitalise on Pedro’s desire for increased first-team action after he was squeezed out of the side by former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Nonetheless, the Spanish winger managed 11 goals in 15 starts for Barcelona, and he can play at forward and midfielder.
