The chase for Barcelona winger Pedro has taken another twist, with reports suggesting Manchester United are not willing to match the player’s £22m release clause.
Several UK newspaper reports on Thursday claimed the deal was close to being completed, however, The Mirror reports the Red Devils are refusing to match the 27-year-old’s release clause and value the player at £17m.
United have money to spend following its reported £45m sale of Angel di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain, however it seems Louis van Gaal is keen to spend as little as possible on Pedro.
The Mirror reports that United believe that Pedro will offer very little re-sale due to his age and the Premier League giants are keen to lower the fee.
Pedro is believed to frustrated by his lack of first-team opportunities at the Camp Nou, with the front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez keeping the Spanish international out of the starting XI.
