The Gunners travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday with vengeance on the mind following last season’s 6-0 drubbing at the hands of the Blues.
Arsene Wenger’s side go into Sunday’s match full of confidence following their 4-1 victory over Galatasaray last night, which saw new signing Danny Welbeck grab his first senior hat-trick.
And Mertesacker said after the game; “Obviously it’s [beating Galatasaray] a good lift [before the Chelsea game].
“We’ve got good confidence at the moment and will try and implement that into the game on Sunday.
“We know we can do better than the two consecutive seasons [there] before and I think we’ll try new things on Sunday to get a better result than last year.”
