The Seladang will also face Premier League sides Sarawak and Kedah in the group stage.
Perak FA coach Azraai Khor Abdullah believes home advantage makes Lions XII the favourites to make it to the Malaysia Cup quarter finals.
With the Malaysia Super League champions able to play their matches in familiar surroundings at the Jalan Besar Stadium, they are expected to sail through group stage and into the last eight of the tournament along Azraai’s side when the competition gets underway on August 20.
But the 60-year-old is refusing to count his chickens before they’ve hatched after being pooled together with Premier League winners Sarawak and Kedah in Group D, insisting he won’t take the duo lightly.
“It’s going to be tough because all four teams in the group are good,” Fox Sports report him as saying to the New Straits Times.
“It’s very tough playing the Singapore team [LIONSXII] and going to Jalan Besar [Stadium] has been a nightmare for all Malaysian teams.
“Nobody [opposition sides] has won there this season and if LIONSXII collect full points from their three home games, then they are as good as in the quarter-finals.
“It won’t be easy playing Sarawak and Kedak either and I know [Sarawak coach] Robert Alberts well, having been his assistant before [at Kedah]. He is a very astute tactician.”
Perak approach the Malaysia Cup following a relatively pleasing domestic league season after finishing seventh in the MSL table.
