Michu
Perhaps the most unlikely of the bunch is Swansea midfielder-come-striker Michu, with the Spaniard being something of an unheard-of entity in Britain before his summer arrival.
The Swans’ talented manager Michael Laudrup secured the services of the 27-year-old for just £2million and if he is awarded anything at all this season it’s got to be the title of ‘bargain buy.’
The former Rayo Vallecano man announced his arrival in the Premier League with a brace at QPR and has gone on to score 17 goals in the top division.
His first season in South Wales has seen Swansea win the League Cup, putting Laudrup’s team back in European football for the first time since 1991.
The Swansea revolution started way back when Roberto Martinez was manager of the club, but through the likes of Paulo Sousa, Brendan Rodgers and now Laudrup, they are now celebrated for their free-flowing passing and Michu is a key cog in that machine.
The midfielder may have struggled to keep up his outstanding form from the start of the season, but the fact the Spain scouts are considering him to be included in the most formidable midfield ever put together is all information needed to realise Michu is a star performer.
