Luis Suarez
The striker football fans love to hate cannot be criticised for his goal scoring record this season, which sees him topping the Premier League charts with 22.
Even Liverpool fans may struggle to defend Suarez’s theatrics and occasional suspect gamesmanship, but when the Uruguayan has the ball at his feet in-and-around the box there are few better in the game.
In a distinctly average Liverpool side Suarez is the star performer and with the Reds looking like they might miss out on European football next year, the 26-year-old could be on his way in the summer.
Bought in two years ago at the same time as Andy Carroll and for £12million less, it is clearly the South American who has gone onto to be the better buy and his seven goals for Uruguay in their current World Cup qualifying campaign proves he can also produce on the international stage.
After an indifferent first season at Anfield, that included an average goal record and a racism row, Suarez has done extremely well to defy his critics and become arguably the best striker in English football.
