Four Premier League sides are represented in the shortlist.
The shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award has been announced with stars from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Southampton included.
Premier League leaders Liverpool have three players on the six-man shortlist, with captain Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and top-scorer Luis Suarez included.
Chelsea attacking midfielder Eden Hazard and Yaya Toure of Manchester City are also featured, whilst there is something of a shock inclusion for Southampton skipper Adam Lallana.
Suarez is by far the bookies favourite to be given the award having had a brilliant season with the Reds in which the Uruguayan has scored 29 goals in 29 league matches.
Both Gerrard and Sturridge have also been instrumental in their team’s charge on the English title, with an impressive 33 league goals between them.
Hazard meanwhile has been the Blues’ standout performer as they still chase top place and manager Jose Mourinho has said the Belgian is a future Ballon d’Or winner.
Toure is the highest scoring non-striker in the division, with 18 strikes to date to sit behind only Sturridge and Suarez in the race for the Golden Boot.
Finally Lallana has been in fine form once again for the Saints as they close in on another top 10 finish despite having only returned to the top flight in 2012.
With three Englishmen on the shortlist national team manager Roy Hodgson will be pleased to see his players in form ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
