Ex-United star set to hang up his boots this weekend.
Everton are keen for veteran midfield player Phil Neville to remain at Goodison Park beyond the end of this season in a coaching capacity, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The former England international, 36, will be out of contract this summer and has not been offered a new deal to carry on his playing career with the Toffees beyond Sunday’s Premier League trip to Chelsea, the club’s last fixture of this campaign.
However, the Merseyside giants would like Neville to become part of a new-look coaching set-up at Goodison now that it has been confirmed that manager David Moyes will be leaving the club to replace the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson as the next boss of Manchester United at Old Trafford next season.
Neville has featured in 303 matches for Everton since joining the club from United in the summer of 2005, scoring just the five goals in the process, and the player has already started to take his coaching badges.
