The Patriots could be a lock for Superbowl XLIX: the last time they were accused of cheating they went 16-0 and were two big catches away from their 4th Superbowl win.
It has been seven years since the Patriots were fined $250,000 for their role in the Spygate scandal. But the perception of the Patriots as cheaters still extends far into the league, including to Eagles CB Cary Williams.
“They’re cheaters,” Williams said in the Philadelphia Daily News … I know you’re going to be looking at the (Eagles practice) film when we go out there … we’ll be watching film of them. I don’t want to show them my cards. That’s just me.”
Last year Williams was thrown out of a joint practice for fighting with members of the Patriots.
“I’m trying not to go into details about it or disrespect that organization, because I give that organization all the credit in the world,” Williams said. “But one fact still remains. They haven’t won a Super Bowl since they got caught.”
While the Patriots have not won the Superbowl since they got caught, they have been there twice (an AFC record since 2007) and appeared in four AFC Championship games.
