The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 34-17, in their season opener. However, their game didn’t come without struggles as the offensive line allowed quarterback Nick Foles to be sacked five times.
Their job will not be made any easier as left guard Evan Mathis left the game with a sprained MCL, and this will reportedly keep him out for an extended period of time.
Mathis’ injury occured in the second quarter when running back LeSean McCoy was pushed into the back of his legs.
Right tackle Allen Barbre, who was filling in for the suspended Lane Johnson, had a high-ankle sprain. This injury is expected to keep him out for several weeks.
The Eagles had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, but their depth will be severely tested, and Mathis is arguably their best lineman.
The Eagles are expected to slide in Andrew Gardner at left guard and Dennis Kelly at right tackle until Johnson returns from his suspension.
