The Pittsburgh Steelers will play with running backs Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount despite their arrests in their next preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in their next preseason game as they seek their first preseason win in 2014.
Quarterback Nick Foles bounced back from his dreadful preseason debut and played efficiently in his second game. Mark Sanchez also looked great as he threw two touchdowns and played flawlessly aside from an interception.
Rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews bounced back from a disappointing preseason debut and caught nine passes for 104 yards.
The Eagles defense continues to be a concern as it allowed 42 points to the New England Patriots after allowing 34 in their preseason opener.
For the Steelers, they will have their entire running back corps joining the team despite the arrests of Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount. This will be a prime opportunity for rookie Dri Archer to continue to showcase his skills assuming a suspension is looming for Bell and Blount. Archer’s latest big play came on a 40-yard catch, so he is a threat to score any time he touches the ball.
They are coming off a win that stemmed from a last-second field goal by Shaun Suisham. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looked excellent as threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 8-for-11 passing.
On defense, rookie inside linebacker Ryan Shazier looked extremely impressive as he finished with 11 tackles. Defensive end Joe Mauro is an undrafted free-agent rookie, but he is looking to snag a roster spot after registering two sacks last game.
